What
does C.O.P.S. do during an investigation?
The
C.O.P.S. team will set up various audio, video and environmental
monitoring devices in attempts to capture any reports of paranormal
occurrences as well as aid C.O.P.S. in providing explanations of
natural origin for any events that are perceived as paranormal.
Also, C.O.P.S. will exhaust every means possible to re-create and
distinguish truly paranormal events from events that are caused by
natural means.
How long does an investigation take?
A
typical C.O.P.S. investigation can range from 4 to 6 hours in
length and possibly longer if the need arises.
How long does it take to receive results from an investigation?
Central Oklahoma Paranormal Studies has a standard
two week maximum turn around time. We prefer to have ample time to
dedicate proper due-dillagance to the review of the collected data
and the historical research that may be performed.
How much will an investigation cost?
An
investigation conducted by Central Oklahoma Paranormal Studies
costs absolutely nothing. We do not seek monetary gain for our
services. Also, investigation reports and any copies of audio or
video are provided to the client at no cost.
Does C.O.P.S. "remove" spirits, ghosts, entities, etc.?
No.
C.O.P.S. is a strictly science based investigation team. We can
only assist in the validation of paranormal occurrences or provide
natural explanations for seemingly paranormal events.
Can I remain in my home during an investigation?
Absolutely! In fact, we prefer to have the owner,
or a responsible party acting on behalf of the owner, to be present
during an investigation.
How do you determine which cases to take?
We
view each case with the utmost seriousness however, we do have use
scrutiny in our decisions. We will always ensure the safety of the
team and of the clients.
How can I trust you in my home during an investigation?
We
understand that allowing a team inside your home or business can be
a risk, however, we here at C.O.P.S. perform extensive background
checks on all of our team members and have very rigid guidelines in
place to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the home/business
owners and of the C.O.P.S. team itself.
Will there be any papers for me to sign if you investigate my property?
We do
have a simple waiver of liability form that indemnifies you as the
home/business owner and Central Oklahoma Paranormal Studies from
any damages or losses during the investigation.
Why do paranormal investigators always investigate at night?
Through our study and research, we have found that
our equipment better registers phenomena during the evening due to
a lack of ambient contaminations such as city noise and
sunlight.
Is being paranormal investigators your full time jobs, or do you hold other employment?
Everyone on the C.O.P.S. team does hold normal
jobs outside of the paranormal, however we are all so dedicated
that we often refer to C.O.P.S., in a very loving way, as our
second full-time jobs.
Do you only investigate hauntings in Oklahoma?
No, in
fact we are willing and able to travel outside of the state of
Oklahoma, and have on several occasions, to investigate claims
throughout United States. Travel expenses often do play a factor in
this, but with the proper amount of planning, we are certainly
willing to come to you.
I would like to join your team or possibly go on an investigation, but am not sure how.
Do you give public lectures or speak to large groups?
We
have and are certainly willing to again in the future. Please note
that we do not charge any amount for "public appearances" and we
will never expect people to pay to hear us talk.
Does your team ever consult with other groups?
Yes,
in fact, we believe that collaborations with other science based
teams is an important ingredient to furthering the scientific
community. Honesty and integrity of research determine with whom we
consult and for the sake of the research we are, and will all ways
be, very select with whom we consult. Central Oklahoma Paranormal
Studies is proud to belong to OPRA (Oklahoma Paranormal Research
Alliance), a science based collaboration of technical minds and a
wealth of information that we are able to draw from. OPRA also
brings together the most experienced teams in the state combined
with the experience and knowledge of the longest running paranormal
research site in the world, providing an extensive link between
some of the most influential and innovative minds in the paranormal
community.
Do you have a list of haunted places in the area that I can visit?
No,
C.O.P.S. values the safety and privacy of our clients, the public
and the team itself. We will never disclose locations of
investigations unless requested, with written permission, to do so.
C.O.P.S. kindly requests that you do not attempt to visit any
locations investigated by the team without gaining specific
permission from the home/business/site owner to do so.
Why do you investigate the paranormal?
C.O.P.S. holds a passion to further the
understanding of the paranormal and to aid in educating, not only
the public, but ourselves as well, in comprehending that which man
does not understand. With each experiment and investigation we
conduct, we feel we are gaining better knowledge and insight as to
what can be labeled "paranormal" and what is simply the human mind
experiencing something it does not understand and subsequently
labeling it as paranormal.
