History
The Woodward Memorial Hospital began as a two-story house a local doctor built in the early 1900's.  Afterwards, the building was turned into Woodward's first hospital in 1912.  Unfortunately, the hospital's potential was realized soon enough when the Woodward tornado of April 9th, 1947 hit Woodward and flattened nearly every part of the county.  116 casualties were reported and many more seriously injured.  It was this tornado alone that signified the need for some sort of tornado warning system.  The registered F5 is still memorable history in many of the townspeople's minds.  One story that echoes the annals of history is that of Joan Gay Croft.  During the tornado, she suffered a minor leg injury and her neighbors took her to the Woodward hospital.  During the middle of the stormy night, her sister reported that some men had broken in and kidnapped 4 year-old Joan Croft from the hospital.  Joan Croft was never seen again.

C.O.P.S. team members present: Tony, Russell
OKCGC team members present: Logan, Robyn

The team arrived around 11:00 PM and met with the hospital's caretakers Tom and Sheri.  After gathering all the equipment from the car, everyone went inside and entered the main lobby.  Tom and Sheri gave everyone a tour of the hospital, reciting the history and all the paranormal accounts that occur there.  Shortly after their daughter showed up and went into more detail about the construction and history of the hospital, the tornado, and the story of Joan Croft. The team started out in the second story, and as soon as everyone entered the east wing, a cough was heard at the end of the hallway that couldn't be explained.  Everyone then headed into the first floor and basement to get a feel of the area and the history behind everything.

After the tour, the team decided to start out in the basement and work up from there.  The Sony camcorder was set up in the far south room of the basement, and standard EVP questions were asked along with a knock test.  A few noises were heard coming from the basement hallway so the team moved into the adjacent room and continued asking questions there.  A few more tapping noises were heard, but nothing else.  After spending some time more in the basement, the team headed back upstairs.

Upon returning upstairs, the team was welcomed by four guests of Tom's, one of which was Tracie from the Eerie paranormal team.  Tony and Logan talked with the guests and were answering questions while Robyn and Russell when to the south hall to take photos and get baseline temperature readings.  When Russell and Robyn returned, the guests decided to stay downstairs in the lobby and observe while the rest went upstairs to continue IRCs.

One in the second story east wing, the Sony Handycam was set up along with the illuminator and audio as Tony began asking questions.  Despite it being very cold outside and the broken windows, it seemed to the group that the temperature did drop even more so.  After 20-30 minutes of being upstairs, the team decided to take a quick break and get something to snack and drink form a local gas station.

After returning, the team entered into the lobby once more, and Tom and Logan decided to head upstairs and try experiments with dowsing rods.  Tony, Russell, Robyn, and one of the earlier guests stayed downstairs.  In the meantime, Russell and Robyn went into the south wing to observe while Tony and the guest went to the east wing to do the same.

Russell and Robyn had the IR thermometer and noticed that the surface temperature of the walls around them was dropping at an alarming speed.  When first measured, surface temperature of the hall was 53 degree Fahrenheit.  Not even five minutes later, the temperature was reading 42 degrees!  The temperature had dropped 11 degrees total in less than 5 minutes.

Meanwhile in the east hall, Tony and the guest were noticing a shadow at the end of the hallway `bobbing' up and down.  Tony described the motion as that of a kick boxer.  They could see the shadow blocking the light emitted from a lamp outside.  They could also tell the shadow was inside the building, not outside.  Shortly after the shadow started moving closer to them.  At this point, Russell came around the corner and was asked to verify the shadow Tony was witnessing.  Russell Looked and watched, but saw no such shadow.  Russell asked Tony to verify the temperature drop in the other hallway and when the IR was used again, the temperature was back up to 53 degrees.

At this point, Logan and Tom came back down the stairs.  They had a couple of crossings with the dowsing rods when asking questions.  Russell decided it was time to do a sit-down in the lobby and as Tom was going outside to get his digital camera, the back door the team used to get in was locked!  To everyone's knowledge at that time, no one was outside to lock the door.  Tom attributed it to the wind outside.  Sometimes if the door gets slammed, the locking gate will close on the latch, unable to be opened back up from the inside.  The team then waited for Sheri to come back and unlock the team from the hospital.  In the meantime, Logan set out his arrays in the lobby and Tom built a fire in the fireplace so everyone could stay warm.  During the fire, another cough was heard from the end of the south hall, directly below the place the team heard the first cough earlier that night.  Also Tony and Russell felt the floor vibrate violently beneath them, while no else in the 10-foot radius of them felt it.

Soon after Sheri arrived back at the hospital, the team began setting up for the sit-down.  Tony had left the camcorder upstairs, so Russell and Tony went to fetch it.  As Russell was heading up the stairs holding the Maglite, he felt someone tug on the back end of it.  Tony was several steps down from Russell, and thus eliminates Tony bumping into Russell.

The camera was retrieved and the sit-down began.  After about 10 minutes of complete silence, Tony began asking more questions.  When Tony knocked his flashlight on the ground three times, a moderate knock was heard in response.  At that point Tony's flashlight went out.  Tony and Russell went outside to get more batteries with no avail in the flashlight working again.  Upon returning, Logan told them how the boarded up front door was knocking very violently, as if someone had a hammer and was trying to break in.  Russell went up to the front window adjacent to the door and saw no one standing outside.

Everyone sat back down on the pews in the lobby and observed in silence for around 30 minutes.  In the time, the front door knocking happened two more times, each with what seemed more strength than the last.  The team thought the board would go flying across the room.  Assorted noises were heard throughout the sit-down, and well what sounded like whispering/giggling.  It was then around 2:30 in the morning, and the team decided to pack up and call it a night.

When the weather warms up, COPS is planning a return visit to this historic hospital.
