Being
the first OPU event, COPS was very excited to take part in a joint
investigation at Chilocco Indian school with OKCGC, NORIP, and
TGI.
COPS headed out and met with all
the teams for dinner in Ponca City and discussed the upcoming
evening. Chalice is a very large site covering 4 square miles and
containing over 50 abandoned buildings. The task ahead was daunting
to say the least. After dinner, all the teams headed out to the
school located about 22 miles north of Ponca City and drove down
the long stretch of forgotten road to the secluded campus.
After gathering all the necessary
equipment the teams set up base control in the cafeteria basement
located centrally in the campus. It was here that the teams would
meet up every hour during the rotation to discuss any anomalies or
experiences they had encountered while there. Each team spent a
total of one hour in a building and would rotate to allow every
team a chance to investigate the designated buildings.
COPS's first building was women's
dorm #4. A two-story structure with a basement, the building was
relatively small and easy to knock out in the first hour. COPS
entered with the assistance of Alison guiding everyone in the dorm.
A sweep was made through the basement, 1st floor, and 2nd floor.
Afterwards, COPS performed a first sit-down in the common room on
the first level. No noticeable experiences occurred except for a
mist appearing on video. When the mist was recorded Russell and
Allison both noticed a white mist appear in the middle of the room
and fade out.
COPS then moved into the basement
and conducted standard IRCs. Towards the end of the basement
sit-down several noises were heard coming from the stairwell in
correlation with questions being asked. Upon further inspection,
Russell found the noises to be caused from a draft blowing under a
piece of metal bolted in place of a door window.
The team then headed to the second
story and asked several questions followed by a knock test. Because
of the wind blowing that night, many noises were discounted as
paranormal sources. At this point in the investigation the hour was
up and COPS reconvened with the rest of the teams in the cafeteria
basement.
After a quick 15 minute break, COPS
was led into Luepp Hall located adjacent from the women's dorm #4.
Luepp hall was probably the main school building on campus due to
its location on the main road and the age of the building itself.
It is two levels with a basement, but more complex in terms of the
layout of the building. Without a map or sense of the building, it
is easy to get lost once inside. This building was in further
disrepair than the previous but structurally sound save for the
front staircase. Because of this, entry to the second floor is
gained from an external set of stairs located on the posterior of
the building. Entry to the basement is by a ladder leading down the
non-working elevator shaft. Because of safety reasons, COPS did not
enter the basement level on this investigation.
Because of the size of Luepp Hall
COPS went directly into IRC's once the equipment was set up in the
main room on the first floor. Two voice recorders were set in the
middle of the room while all the members stood in the perimeter.
Russell asked the majority of the questions and performed the knock
test. Not far into the IRCs, all the team members began hearing
noises inside the room emitting from a pile of debris. The noises
appeared to be that of someone walking through the debris. Shortly
after the team headed into the generator room.
The generator room is accessed by
one of two ways: the inoperative elevator or a rusty spiral
staircase. After the team cautiously climbed the spiral staircase,
equipment was set up around the room and a recorder was set.
Several questions were asked with a knock test, but no obvious
anomalies were noted.
The team then headed into the rest
of the second story through the use of the exterior stairs. Once
inside video and audio was run in the main hallway. This area
appeared to house classrooms, specifically science oriented
classrooms due to the water lines and electric outlets located in
the middle of the rooms. No anomalies were noted visually and none
of the team members noted anything sound-wise.
Chilocco Indian School is a
wonderful place with a lot of history. COPS enjoyed the chance to
investigate and would like to thank NORIP for hosting the OPU
investigation as well as allowing the wonderful teams in OPU a
chance to investigate this location.
